POSITION TITLE: Client Testing Specialist           

POSITION STATUS: Exempt                               

REPORTS TO: Testing Center Director                 

SUPERVISES: Office Assistant (work-study staff)                      

POSITION SUMMARY: Client Testing Specialist supports the Director in the management of the Testing Center and in the supervision of work-study staff at CentreTech, Lowry and Buckley Testing Centers. The Community College of Aurora Testing Center administers placement, online distance education, credit for prior learning and certification tests to students, the community, and the military and their families. The Client Testing Specialist will perform and oversee the main functions of the Testing Center (test administration) as well as offer support to the Director in planning the Testing Center activities, developing the business, implementing changes and supervising staff.         


General Testing Functions:

  • Administer all tests offered by the Community College of Aurora Testing Center (DSST, CLEP, Accuplacer/Community College Placement Testing (CCPT), HOBET,  Online/Distance Education Exams and any other test offered, including testing at Buckley Air Force Base.
  • Answer questions and make decisions or recommendations regarding placement tests, remote proctoring, test scores needed, etc.
  • Troubleshoot with the Testing Director, with the IT department or with the testing company when technical problems arise during testing.
  • Ensure placement testing scores upload in Banner, generate ad hoc score and testing data reports, upload test scores upon reception (ACT, SAT, etc.)
  • Obtain and maintain all access codes for users on various testing platforms and computer software.
  • Monitor and track office supply usage and order supplies when needed, research/maintain testing software (e.g. LanSchool), create/maintain physical file structure and the shared Testing drive.
  • Maintain Testing Center schedule and ensure coverage, special testing sessions and increase coverage for peak periods.
  • Maintain or improve Testing Center procedures including: CCA Admissions and testing policy procedures, test administration/reporting for each test, testing center procedures and forms, testing center publications. Revise when necessary.
    • Ensure testing center information is current in all publications including: course catalog, testing email, testing voicemail. Business cards, and other department publications.
    • Assist Director with scheduling and/or presenting issues, concerns, and information during staff meetings. 


  • Train work-study staff on testing administration and other clerical tasks.
  • Assign projects to work-study staff and follow-up on completion of tasks.
  • Provide feedback to staff when requested/needed. Inform the Director of any performance issue or on exceptional performance.
  • Provide additional training to proctors when requested/needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Assist the Director in planning and implementing any new testing procedures related to external CCA initiatives (e.g. revenue generating exams, Rocky Mountain College Testing Association (RMCTA), and building external partnerships with other institutions).
  • Assist the Director in researching opportunities for new types of testing to serve the student/community, in making decisions about which test would benefit the testing center, in applying to become a testing center for new tests, and in applying for and maintaining NCTA membership.
  • Communicate with testing vendors and external institutions to improve and strengthen professional connections within the testing community.
  • Collaborate with CCA College Communications to improve outreach and awareness of Testing Center services.
  • Oversees daily finances to ensure all funds, payments, and refunds are being processed accordingly (e.g. vendor checks, ordering testing supplies directly from vendor, and deposit slips).
  • Establish and complete special projects and goals stated within the individual’s yearly performance plan.


  1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in psychology, psychometrics, measurement, mathematics, or a closely related field
  2. Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Internet and MS Office.
  3. Customer service skills
  4. Excellent sense of organization and planning
  5. Proficiency reading and writing English; strong communication skills
  6. Knowledge and understanding of educational assessment testing development and administration
  7. Sense of responsibility and accountability
  8. Ability to work with little supervision
  9. Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment 


-       Experience proctoring classroom or testing center exams

-       Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

-       Ability to design and maintain simple web pages

-       Bilingual; English/Spanish preferred

-       Experience working in higher education
