Reports To:       Executive Director, Community College of Aurora Foundation

The Position: The Community College of Aurora is a progressive, dynamic, and culturally diverse institution with a strong commitment to student success. The Director of Development for the Community College of Aurora Foundation (CCAF) is responsible for planning and executing annual fundraising goals and objectives as determined by the CCAF Executive Director in alignment with CCA leadership and the CCAF Foundation.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will be responsible for achieving CCAF fundraising goals through management and execution of campaigns and activities for increasing and managing private philanthropic support. Working with the Associate Director of Development and volunteers, the Director of Development is responsible for the implementation of the Foundation's development strategy.

Initiatives to be developed, administered and managed in support of these objectives include an Annual Fund and CCA alumni campaign, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events including the annual Scholarship Luncheon, planned giving, institutional funding and other initiatives in keeping with the foundation's mission "to build financial and public support for the Community College of Aurora."

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Foundation's annual development plan and strategy to raise a targeted annual budget of approximately $1 million, developing annual objectives in conjunction with the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate the cultivation of individual gifts through a systematic process of prospect identification, qualification, strategy development, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment and stewardship.
  • Oversee research of potential donors to CCAF, including individuals, organizations and foundations.
  • Develop and grow the CCAF individual donor base, managing the annual giving and alumni campaigns;Develop and implement printed and electronic communications materials designed to support CCAF funding initiatives.
  • Oversee the organization, preparation, and coordination of fundraising events, including the CCAF Annual Scholarship Luncheon.
  • Manage the development and delivery of grant proposals and reports to individual and institutional funders.
  • Supervise the development of a CCAF Bequests and Planned Gifts program with assistance from financial and legal professionals.
  • Supervise Associate Director of Development to ensure proper management of the CCAF donor database, including confidentiality, accuracy and timely entry of donor records.
  • Supervise Associate Director of Development to direct the timely and accurate acknowledgement of donor gifts, concerns and requests.
  • Supervise Associate Director of Development to develop annual grants pipeline, revise grant narratives and attachments, research potential grant opportunities, and manage deadlines.
  • Manage intern and development volunteers.

In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively lead, communicate, concentrate, analyze data, pay attention to detail, retain learned knowledge, instruct/teach demonstrate strong organizational skills and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications: (In order to advance in this search process, your resume must demonstrate that you meet all of the following required qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Minimum three years of management experience in development operations to include individual gift solicitation, grant research and writing, corporate solicitation and fundraising events, as well as budget development and financial management.
  • Experience in executing and managing the production of printed and electronic materials designed to support development operations.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and donor management software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a foundation or higher-education setting.

Salary Range: $47,000-$57,000 plus benefits.
