The Community College of Aurora Foundation has received $25,000 from Caterpillar Inc. and Wagner Equipment Co. to support CCA’s Diesel Power Mechanics program.
Caterpillar and Wagner each donated $12,500. The two contributions will fund $7,500 in scholarships for students enrolled in the college’s diesel program and $17,500 will help fund program priorities.
Broken down, the Wagner contribution will fund $2,500 in scholarships and $10,000 will go toward the diesel program while the Caterpillar contribution will fund $5,000 in scholarships and $7,500 will help fund program needs.
Financial contributions from Caterpillar and Wagner in the past have been used to increase marketing efforts for the program and purchase training and other equipment used in classes.
The scholarships will be awarded in fall 2020 and spring 2021.
“For over a decade, Wagner Equipment and Caterpillar Inc. have been living their core value of teamwork through their support of CCA’s efforts to grow and expand its Diesel Power Mechanics program to become a regional leader,” said John Wolfkill, executive director of the Community College of Aurora Foundation. “Thanks to their partnership, hundreds more skilled technicians are now working in the greater Aurora area and across Colorado.”
Since 2009, Caterpillar and Wagner have combined to donate $679,500 to support CCA students and the diesel program.
Industry partnerships like the ones with Caterpillar and Wagner allow CCA to effectively align its programs to meet the workforce needs of the regional economy and create pathways to in-demand careers for students.
