Aurora, CO — On Wednesday, March 8th the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado (ULFC)  pledged twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to fund the Dr. Ryan Ross ULFC Scholarship at the Community College of Aurora (CCA). A commitment that Dr. Ryan Ross (Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Equity and Inclusion at the Colorado Community College System, and President and CEO of ULFC) says, “is merely the start of a meaningful partnership.” This contribution will span the next five years with an initial gift of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) being made this academic term.

“This generous contribution from the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado exemplifies the organization’s dedication to empower our community’s future business, political, and community leaders. CCA is grateful for the financial support of such a mission-critical organization” said Dr. Mordecai Ian Brownlee, President of CCA.

Cited as one of  [...] “Colorado’s most recognized and accomplished leadership organizations in the Denver metro plex,” the 501(c)(3)’s reach can be felt across the Centennial State through its various community initiatives and philanthropic work. ULFC’s vision of “continuously improving the professional and social trajectory of minority leaders through effective leadership training” aligns with CCA’s mission of “serving our diverse community” added Dr. Angela Marquez CCA’s Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief of Staff.

Over the next three years, the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado will bolster and propel its history of excellence cultivation into the future. This will be accomplished by its 3 strategic priorities:

  • Codify and expand multiple pathways for meaningful learning and connection among emerging leaders, fellows, alumni and partners,
  • Sustainably scale philanthropic capabilities to monitor, resource, respond to and evaluate progress on community needs,
  • Organize the “ULFC Family” and its partners to set a robust Black agenda to create the enabling conditions for institutional change.

“CCA is really in the life changing business,” said Dr. Ryan Ross to a crowded room at Wednesday evenings celebration. “These scholarship dollars are an investment into something much larger than you and I can imagine and it is only just the beginning.”

“Multi year partnerships such as these act as the bridge for our students on their path to academic and career success” added John Wolfkill Executive Director of the CCA Foundation.
