Matt Gianneschi, Ph.D., will deliver the commencement address at the Community College of Aurora’s graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 7, at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Event Center in Aurora.
Dr. Gianneschi is the Deputy Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Prior to joining the Department of Higher Education, he was Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management at the Community College of Aurora where, he says, he had the privilege of “working with and cheering on the most charitable and dedicated student services staff in all of Colorado.”
From 2007 to 2009, Gianneschi served as the senior advisor for education policy to Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, Jr., a position that enabled Gianneschi to contribute to numerous statewide education reform initiatives. Prior to joining the governor’s staff, he served as the senior policy analyst for the State Higher Education Executive Officers organization and chief academic officer for the Colorado Department of Higher Education. He has also been a director of the Daniels College Prep and Scholarship Program in the Daniels Fund, the Rocky Mountain region’s largest philanthropic foundation.
Gianneschi is an alumnus of the Denver Public Schools and received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Denver and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Center for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Arizona. Gianneschi is a resident of Aurora, and his wife, Stephanie, is a longtime teacher in the Aurora Public Schools. His oldest son, Gavin, attends Vista Peak K-8 in the Aurora Public Schools.
Additional remarks at commencement will be offered by CCA President Linda S. Bowman, with faculty remarks by Stacey D'Angelo and student remarks by William Kleinman.
The graduation will begin at 11 a.m. at the Event Center at 25690 East Quincy Avenue in Aurora. More than 1,000 friends and family of the graduates, along with CCA faculty and staff, will be on hand to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2011 graduating class.
