Students from Gateway High School in Aurora will attend a Jan. 29 Xcel Energy Foundation Camp at CCA and will tour the Colorado Film School, participate in a solar energy workshop, learn about careers in art and new media design, and discover the dual enrollment options that are available to them thanks to a partnership between Aurora Public Schools and CCA.
9:45 – Students arrive at Colorado Film School
10:00 – Tour begins: students will tour the Colorado Film School
11:00 – Students to participate in a solar energy workshop titled “Power Your Desk with the Sun”: students will experiment with solar panels and electrical devices to understand how solar energy works and how small changes can impact energy consumption
12:00 – Lunch
12:20 – Careers in the field of art and design
12:40 – Discussion of PSEO/Dual Enrollment options at CCA
12:50 – CCA students, staff to discuss the student experience at CCA
1:15 – Students depart
“These Camps bring in students who may be thinking about college as an option, and we can show them firsthand that they can succeed,” said Robley Welliver, coordinator of the Xcel Energy Foundation-funded project.
