In partnership with Downtown Aurora Visual Arts, the Lowry Gallery at the Community College of Aurora presents the exhibit “Photo ID.”
The public is invited to experience a unique display of artwork by Aurora youth who have employed photo-related media to represent their identities. In creating the pieces that comprise the exhibit, DAVA students had the opportunity to look at themselves and at each other to think about who they are and where they come from.
Students aged 11 to 14 combined photography with sculpture and collage to represent their identities. Other students, aged 7 to 17, created self-portraits with paper maché, paint, yarn, and fabric. The works depict how the young artists would like to be seen by their friends if their photos were on social media sites.
The exhibit is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and runs through July 28. The Lowry Gallery is located at 9202 E. Severn Place, North Quad Bldg., Denver, CO 80230.
