Five-Year Strategic Plan

Goal 1: Increase success rates for underrepresented student populations through effective teaching and learning and institutional collaboration

  • Increase term to term persistence rates by 5 percent in 5 years
  • Establish instructional professional development model and center for teaching and learning
  • Collaborate with departments across the institution to holistically support student success

Goal 2: Develop an Instructional Support Initiative

  • Design and implement a professional development model that embeds inclusive and culturally responsive pedagogy and takes a student-centered approach to instruction
  • Establish Faculty and Instructor professional development design team
  • Build collaborative partnerships with academic disciplines to provide ongoing professional learning opportunities
  • Leverage Faculty and Instructor expertise to engage peer-to-peer learning and mentoring 

Goal 3: Scale Gateway to Success Interventions Specific to and Across Disciplines

  • Develop a protocol to scale interventions
  • Implement Faculty and Instructor intervention design team model
  • Create and deliver intervention training
  • Construct D2L intervention repository
  • Collect data and assess intervention efficacy

Goal 4: Transform Utilization of Instructional Technology

  • Develop training modules related to instructional pedagogy, strategies, techniques, and practices
  • Increase usage of D2L as a teaching and learning tool
  • Adopt D2L as a technological space for instructional intervention and support
  • Explore and implement innovative instructional technology

Goal 5: Establish a Center for Teaching and Learning

  • Implement student-centered instructional model
  • Provide robust teaching and learning opportunities
  • Establish instructional resource repository
  • Develop Faculty and Instructor Professional Development Program
  • Expand new Faculty and Instructor orientation
  • Increase retention of Instructors
  • Initiate Writing Across the Curriculum
