The Center for Simulation and Disaster Management Institute are world-class training facilities used to enhance the educational experience for CCA students studying in fields such as EMT, EMT-Paramedic, Police, Fire Science, or Computer Science. But the emergency operations center extends far beyond that realm as a high-tech haven with large-scale practical applications for federal, state and local authorities, the Department of Defense, and many other groups.
21st century preparation exercises by the military and government communities can be housed at the facilities, including those involving: Weapons of Mass Destruction, Hazardous Materials, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Bomb Squad, EMT/Paramedic, Fire Rescue, and many others. These real-time preparatory exercises inject realism through scenes, sets and simulation capabilities that can cover an isolated single event involving one agency to a large-scale, mass casualty scenario with 140 entities working in concert. Such professional development opportunities can aid in assessment, communication, movement, teamwork, or merely improve critical-thinking skills through this reality-based training, aided by high-tech equipment that extends beyond the physical into cyber applications.
