Community ESL Program

We have registration four times per year, generally in January, April, July, and October. There is no need to apply ahead of time, just come to one of the set registration times to take a placement test, register and pay for your classes, and buy the book. The placement test is only to find out which level is the best level for you, you cannot score too low.

CCA Student Demographics

Welcome to the Community ESL Program, Community College of Aurora's non-credit English language instruction department for adults. We are a unique program where a person with even basic English skills could start in our Community ESL program, improve his or her language to enter the College Prep ESL program, and eventually take college classes. Whether you are learning the basics of English, preparing to work toward a college degree, or trying to improve your job prospects, there is a class for you.

Community ESL

Our Community ESL Program teaches English to adults through a curriculum that helps students learn the language skills for work and day-to-day life in the United States. The classes cover speaking, listening, reading and writing, along with vocabulary and grammar. We have lessons and activities that give you practice with real-life experiences such as filling out forms, reading labels, preparing for college, and finding jobs. We also offer Citizenship classes, to help students prepare for the U.S. Citizenship Exam. There are also free basic conversation and computer classes for enrolled students.
