Welcome to our P.O.S.T. certified Police Academy

If you want a headstart into the fast-paced world of law enforcement, this is where it begins! Our law enforcement graduates are working throughout the state. Many serve in leadership positions, and we are proud to have several past graduates go on to become police chiefs!

Our program is certified by the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (P.O.S.T.).  We have full and part-time academies and in our courses, you will earn academic credit toward the completion of a degree.

    Calculator, tax form 1040 and a pencil on a deskEach year, CCA is a host site for Tax Help Colorado on the Lowry campus.

  • Will instruct teachers in Chile

    Ruby Eichenour, a sixth-year adjunct in Community College of Aurora’s ESL program, has been awarded a Fulbright Global Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) award. She is expected to begin her three-month teaching expedition in Chile sometime in the spring of 2015.

    CCA's spring art show is entitled "iNDULGE" and will run on weekdays through April 10.

    The works displayed are described by organizers as: "Sinful Craving for the Mind: Delirious. Delightful. Delicious."

    The gallery is located at 9202 E. Severn Place, Denver, CO 80230 (in the Lowry North Quad).

    The show is free and open to the public.

    Two movies produced during the Colorado Film School’s annual Camp for Kids from the Downtown Aurora Visual Arts (DAVA) program were recognized with Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the largest, longest-running student recognition program in the nation.

  • Accomplishments are numerous

    After a semester hiatus, Community College of Aurora’s Student Government Association (SGA) came back strong and delivered numerous accomplishments under its executive leadership team.

  • First six recipients are identified

    The Community College of Aurora Foundation has launched a new scholarship funding initiative allowing participating students to graduate from the college debt-free, an approach born from mounting student loan debt nationwide that’s hit $1.2 trillion.

  • Attempt to glean best practices

    People talking in a storage closetMore than a dozen educators from the Netherlands attending a national conference in Denver made a pit stop to Lowry on Nov. 4 in order to see how the structure and culture within the Colorado community college system might be applied to institutions back home.

  • Grant opens local pipeline

    The Community College of Aurora received a $106,000 grant over three years from the Colorado Department of Education that will pay to train North Aurora residents for job opportunities on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

  • Goal: raise level of filmmaking

    Two dozen esteemed filmmakers from the world’s third-largest producer of content were embedded in an intensive four-week course at the Colorado Film School this spring. Their overarching mission: to raise professional standards for future features in Nigeria – and potentially allow their homeland to compete for international awards.
