The Strengthening Working Families Initiative grant (SWFI), in partnership with the US Department of Labor, allows the Community College of Aurora to help parents access certificates for high demand jobs in Healthcare, Information Technology, and Logistics while addressing a common barrier parents face, childcare
We pair the students with: A bridge program to prepare them for college-level courses; an Achievement coach to help them navigate challenges to the higher education process and expectations; and a Career Advisor to assist with the employment process. All of these services are provided at little to no cost to the student.
The Strengthening Working Families Initiative is funded by the US Department of Labor and Employment.
