Career Services Advisors & Counselors
At CCA we start with the end in mind. We ask questions such as what is your plan once you have completed your education. The answers to this question is used to help students discover a pathway.
Guided Pathways at CCA is our way of ensuring the classes taken by your family member align with a career goal. Additionally, Guided Pathways is a simple way for students to find the resources they need while at CCA. Guided Pathways also allows students to attend classes and interact with other students seeking the same or similar career or transfer goal. The students in their classes and community will eventually become their professional peers.
The Guided Pathways at CCA consist of 6 categories:
People, Societies, & Ideas
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)
Creative Industries
Communication & Languages
Professional Studies & Public Service
Health
In knowing their pathway, students gain access to your specific Pathway advisor at CCA to help you navigate their courses, event specific to their Pathway, a targeted bi-weekly Career Services newsletter sent specifically from the Career Advisor for their pathway, and more! Our pathways are comprised of communities dedicated to the success of students within that area to ensure our students are successful through and beyond their time at CCA.
Your family member may consider taking an assessment. In the career services office, we offer:
Card Sorts
Online and in-person assessments for Personality, Interest, Skills, and Values
In-Person dialogue to help construct your student's needs, meet them where they are at, and ensure they have the resources to develop career goals together, and follow-through to completion!
By knowing their end goal, students are more likely to stay motivated and maintain speed as they work through their courses and apply their new knowledge to the industry and field!
The sooner, the better! Most employers and continuing educators not only look at the degree earned, but look for the ways candidates have applied their knowledge. Attending career-related events is a fantastic way to do this!
