Hidden Figures

The Math Department will host this event about three Black women who became the first to work for NASA in the 1960s. Come for a viewing of the movie Hidden Figures. Faculty/instructors are encouraged to invite their classes to offer extra credit for attendance. Sponsored by the Black Faculty/Staff Unity Affinity Group, the Office of Inclusive Excellence, and the CCA Mathematics Department.

Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with co-founder of the UndocuBlack Network- Jonathan Jays-Green, as we explore intersecting identities and the ways Black undocumented immigrants ascribe meaning to the intersection of their identities based on race and immigration status.

 

What the Health? Your Mind, Body, Soul Connection

Cathy Phelps, director of the Center for Trauma and Resilience, will present a mini-lecture about demystifying mental health issues in the African American community. Learn about the mind, body, and soul connection to reinforce your resiliency and bring your yoga mat to participate in a basic yoga session! All are welcome to attend and encourage students to participate for extra credit for attendance.
