Safe is Sexy

A program for students to gain insight on sexual health, consent, assault prevention, healthy and responsible relationships, and safe aspects of sexuality.  Professionals from the field will empower each audience member to use communication, consent, and knowledge to inform their sexual health decisions.

Health Disparities in the LGBTQ Community

2:00-4:00 p.m.

Join the LGBTQ Task Force and The Center to learn about the ways bias and ignorance have impacted the medical care of LBGTQ individuals and how to advocate for better health care for yourself. Following the presentation there will be a dialogue with members of the LGBTQ Task Force.

MyQuest Workshop: Networking and Professionalism

According to a 2014 study conducted by the Harris Poll on behalf of CareerBuilder, 77 percent of employers surveyed indicated they were specifically seeking candidates with soft skills. Possessing technical skills may get you an interview. But soft skills are what gets you a job and are what helps you keep it.

One task student-led organizations face is the development of a plan to be fiscally responsible with funds. A budget can be a helpful method for keeping track of organization funds. Come to this session to learn about developing and maintaining your SLO budget.

Overcoming Inequities: How the Medical Industry is Making a Change

This panel discussion will explore the efforts to make a change and address the history of bias and abuse in the medical industry towards marginalized communities. Join community experts to talk about how healthcare is changing, and what else can be done to improve the lives of marginalized people.  Panelists: Dr. Cerise Hunt, Director of the Center for Public Health at CU Anschutz and Dr. Tamara Bourda, Director of Healthy Communities Program for Catholic Health Initiatives.
