UPDATE: Announcement about CCA’s Health and Safety Protocols for the Spring 2022 Semester. Learn more about important vaccine and testing updates.
The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is an open-door institution, which allows any student to attend, regardless of citizenship, and we are made up of a rich and diverse student body, including immigrants, international students, DREAMERS, those who are undocumented, those with DACA status, and those with U.S. citizenship. We, the CCA Undocu-Serving Taskforce, welcome all of you to our beautiful community. You matter. You are valued. You belong.
Our team has been specifically trained in Undocu-Serving topics so we can better understand and support the unique needs of students who are undocumented and help in navigating college.
Created in May 2020, the Undocu-Serving Taskforce’s work aligns with CCA’s vision to be the college where every student succeeds. Our team coordinates campus efforts in providing resources, programming, and training to build a more inclusive and supportive CCA community for our students who are undocumented. Many of these resources (financial, community, and CCA) are listed on this webpage, which we will continue to update. Please help us share these informative resources with those in our community.
DACA UPDATE: The Community College of Aurora supports our diverse student body, including immigrants, international students, DREAMERS, those who are undocumented, those with DACA status, and those with U.S. citizenship. On July 16, 2021, a U.S. District Court Judge ruled that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was deemed unlawful and ordered the current federal administration to stop granting new applications. Since this ruling, more than 400 CEOs, Higher Education Presidents, and Civic Leaders, including CCCS Chancellor Joe Garcia, have signed and sent a letter to Congress urging the passage of the Durbin-Graham DREAM Act of 2021.
To our CCA students who are DACA recipients and/or immigrant students: Know that You matter. You are valued. You belong. CCA is honored that you have entrusted our institution with your academic pathway and we are ready to provide you support.
If you have questions about this ruling, please review the Community Resources listed below for your specific needs; if you are unsure which resource is appropriate, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will assist you.
